Oreos are one of the most popular cookies around the world. And, what could be better than a cake in your favourite oreo flavour. Today we bring you the recipe for chocolate oreo cake which we promise will taste just like your favourite oreo cookies, including the cream.
For the decor, we imagined it to be a beautiful garden with our strawberry roses, greens and other berries with the mud effect in the garden through the powdered oreo cookie and having a wall fence of broken oreo biscuits
Here we go with this chocolate oreo garden cake, essentially this weekend’s feast we threw upon ourselves, nothing special – just wanted to load up 🙂
Ingredients for base:
- 2 cup maida/ all purpose flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 egg
- 1½ cup sugar
- 1 ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ cup strongly brewed coffee
- ¾ cup butter milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
Ingredients for icing:
- 1 cup butter
- 2-3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup marshmallow stuff
- ¼ cup whipping cream
- 1 ¼ tbsp vanilla essence
Ingredients for décor:
- 2 tbsp finely crushed oreos
- 4-5 crumbled oreos
- Fresh fruits (berries)
Procedure:
- Pre heat oven at 180 degree celsius for 10-15 minutes
- In a bowl, sift all the dry ingredients and mix it well
- In another bowl, whisk together egg and sugar until it turns fluffy and smooth. Now, add oil, buttermilk and coffee and whisk well so that everything mix up well
- Add the dry ingredients and fold it well in the batter
- Grease the baking pan well with oil. Place a parchment paper at the bottom and slowly pour the batter. Double tap the pan to ensure that the batter is evenly spread
- Bake the cake for 20-25 minutes or until the skewer inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean
- Let the cake cool down
- In another bowl, beat well the butter and marshmallow fluff (it should be readily available, if not you can make using this link – we made it and it really came out well) until smooth and fluffy. Now, add powdered sugar and beat for another 5-10 minutes. Add cream with vanilla essence and a pinch of salt and beat for another 4-5 minutes until hard peaks are formed
- Evenly spread the frosting all around and let the cake freeze for 30-40 minutes. Take out the cake. Take out the cake, and evenly spread the remaining frosting to give a finishing
- On half of the cake, sprinkle crushed oreo. Place the crumbled oreo cookies unevenly at the bottom of the cake. Use fresh berries to create the garden effect
