
Quintessential to any meal or the best summer coolant or a drink rich of protein and calcium, you name it and it has it all! Masala Chaas or Spiced Buttermilk is just so light and refreshing that you feel like making it now, ain’t it?

Ingredients:
1 cup curd
3/4 cup water
Salt, as per taste
1/2 tsp black salt
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp mint powder
7-8 fresh mint leaves
Ginger (optional)
Oil
Mustard seeds
1 green chili
Curry leaves
Procedure:
In a bowl, whisk well curd and water. Avoid blender and do hand whisking for the best texture. Add more water if is too thick. Now add salt, black salt, cumin powder, mint powder and a bit of grated ginger (if you like) . Whisk well. Add mint leaves.
In a pan, heat some oil and add curry leaves, mustard seeds and green chili. Remove the pan as soon as mustard seeds start spluttering. Add this to buttermilk and cover for some time to get the smokey flavour. Chill it well before serving! Enjoy masala chaas.
