Does this picture also take you to your favourite beach holiday? Both the burger and the burger styling here definitely took Monika to her Greek holiday! The burger has the taste-enhancing feta cheese, famous to the land of Gods Greece – no wonder why she felt nostalgic suddenly!
Styled up in the gorgeous Magnolia-theme rectangular tray and saucer dishes from @tablematterssg, this beetroot-feta-walnut burger will probably make you say “the best home made burger ever”, just like it did to us. We bet! Not convinced yet? Let us also tell you that the kick in the burger is also from the tzatziki dip that sits on top of the patty! Yes yes, we know you are tempted to make it now 🙂
Here is the detailed recipe of this healthy no-potato burger. Highly recommend to use burger patty on only one side of the bread bun, in the spirit of keeping the healthy patty based burger, even healthier. Also this helps to not let bread overpower the flavours of patty and tzatziki. But if you like your patty sandwiched between the burger bun, you can do it. Just like how we have shown both the versions!
Ingredients:
For burger patty: (yields around 10-12 patty)
- Grated beetroot (200 gm/2 cup)
- Grated sweet potato (100 gm/ 1 cup)
- 200 gm greek feta cheese
- 12-15 coarsely ground walnut
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tbsp chili flakes
- 1.5-2 cup bread crumbs
- Oil for shallow frying
For Tzatziki:
- 1/2 cup hung curd / greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp finely chopped cucumber
- 1-1.5 tbsp minced garlic
- 5-7 leaves of chopped mint
- Salt to taste
- Hint of black pepper powder
- Juice of half small lemon
Burger buns
- Use buns of your choice. Ideally suggest to use patty on only one side of the bun topped with tzatziki and greens of choice
- Burger base sauce: mix well 2 tbsp mayonnaise and 2 tbsp of schezwan sauce
Procedure:
- Mix all the ingredients well, under the list of burger patty and make patty
- Shallow fry the patty
- Make tzatziki using all the listed ingredients and keep it chilled
- Toast the burger bun in a skillet or in a pre-heated oven at 180-degree celsius and spread the burger base sauce on its one side. Put the patty on it. (Optional – put onion rings if you prefer). Top it up with a spoon full of tzatziki and the greens of your choice
- Serve it hot and crisp, with or without fries!
