Spicy Herbed Paneer (Cottage Cheese)

Paneer also known as cottage cheese is one of the famous savouries in the Indian households. It could be used in vegetables or eaten plain. Our favourite is to have it spicy. This spicy herbed paneer is rich of flavours and taste.

Home made spicy herbed paneer (cottage cheese), rich in flavours and taste

Ingredients:

  • 1 litre full fat milk
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp peri peri masala
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Salt, as per taste
  • 1 tbsp crushed dry mint

Procedure:

  1. Bring milk to a boil and add the lemon juice, stir well and cover the pan with a lid and let it rest for 45-60 minutes
  2. Now switch on the gas again and bring it to a boil. The milk will curdle now. Remove almost 2 cups of whey separately and add oregano, chili flakes, peri peri masala, black pepper, salt and mint and mix it well
  3. Remove it from flame and strain it over a sieve covered with a thin cotton cloth. Pour few glasses of water on it to ensure that acids of lemon are removed. Crumble the mix and remove all the excess water
  4. Tightly wrap the mix in the cloth and place it under a heavy object. Let it rest for 1-2 hours
  5. Remove paneer from the cloth and cut it in desired shape to enjoy the spicy herbed paneer
