Kheer

To celebrate any occasion, Kheer is one of the many desserts loved across India by many. We are celebrating the occasion of Janmashtmi with this bowl of happiness. Hot or cold, kheer always tastes the best. A quick to go dessert to satisfy your sweet cravings made with some simple ingredients.

Kheer aka rice pudding topped with finely chopped nuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 ltr milk
  • Saffron
  • 1 cup finely chopped mix nuts (almond, pistachio, cashew)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (as per taste)

Procedure:

  1. Soak the rice in water for 10-15 minutes and then drain the water
  2. In a pan, bring milk to a boil, simmer the gas and add rice to it. Let the milk be on sim for 15-20 min or until the desired consistency has been achieved
  3. Add to 8-10 saffron strands to two tsp of hot milk and muddle it well. Add this to the milk above and bring it to boil
  4. Now turn off the gas, add sugar and nuts and stir it well
  5. Serve hot or cold as desired garnished with some more nuts
Taste delicious whether served hot or cold
